Originally the southernmost census tract of Mussolini, Florenciā was established in 1996 by Art Verbotten. It was in 1995 that the right-wing political party "The Clockwork Orange Party" or COP was founded by Brendan Duddy, Matthias Muth, and Nathan Freeburg. The COP took firm control of the unmanaged Mussolini province and Duddy became the new Secretary of State, replacing Wes Erni. In 1996, the COP became the most active politcal party within the Kingdom of Talossa. Lead by Freeburg, the COP managed to unite with the leftist ZPT ("The Defenders of the Land of Talossa" in Talossan) in a grand scheme to defeat the PC (acronym for the Progressive Conservative Party) and make Freeburg the Prime Minister. Freeburg's attempt failed and he was soon expelled from the COP, replaced by Matthias Muth. Art Verbotten, now the Chief Justice of the Republic, grew concerned with the actions of the Clockwork Orange Party. A citizen residing with in Talossa Proper, Verbotten presented his concerns to King Robert Ben Madison. Verbotten made his intentions known, he wished to form his own province. With the blessings of the King and the COP, the province of Florenciā was formed. On January 21, 2008, the Triple-M Merger Bill was passed by the Sixth Chamber of Deputies. On the following day, President Anglatzarâ signed the bill into law. On February 4, 2008, the General Assembly of Maricopa ratified the Triple-M Merger and created the Great Southern Province. However, this wasn't the end of the Florencian and Maricopan Rivalry. When the Republic of Talossa made the switch to Wittenberg XII, the 'Mainland Rivalry' migrated as well. Due to forum administration issues, the posting rights of Talossan citizens were hampered following the Wittenberg Transaction. During this time, the sporadic fighting between the Florencians and the Maricopans ceased. Within days, posting rights were re-established and once again there were outburst on both the Florenican Forum as well as the Great Southern Province Forum. However, the hostility is waning and the two factions have begun to work together for the greater good of the Republic. On March 25, 2008, after many months of deliberation, the Florencian Constitution was ratified. It was the single biggest achievement of the Florencians since the Revolution of 2004. With the constitution ratified, Florencia was officially established. So, what next for the Florencians? Only time will tell but, the future looks bright for the 'Pioneer Province'! |
